Hello viewers!

Hello everybody and welcome to Pestilence of Plague! This is my official website for band and music updates of every kind that I like. My web name is Mokiro, but in the real world it's just Colin. This site is open to comments and any sort of help that you could give me. If anyone reviewing this site would like to help me keep track of certain bands, music, etc., just leave a comment asking and I'd be glad to have your help. In the future, I hope to have this website packed with bios, updates, reviews, and whatever else I can think of that relates to music. I try to have an equal share of both American and Japanese bands. Though lately j-rock has been my passion, on the other hand, I'll be sure to sneak a post on a US band here and there so keep checking! Then again, what's wrong with j-rock? Just check any past posts on a band you may be looking for, and I'll try to keep all updates on those pages. Aside from miniscule other details, that's about it as far as useful information goes. Hope you enjoy my site and remember, LEAVE MEH COMMENTS!!! >:D

On the topic of Pachelbel's Canon ^_^

Random, practical, and funny definition to parkour (having absolutely nothing to do with the topic of this post)

Otherwise known as the song that gives me goosebumps. Canon I believe is, and always will be one of my favorite songs. Something about it just makes me feel happy whenever I hear it. It's impossible to describe. The first time I started to become conscious that I was listening to it was when we played it for marching band as a warm up. They made us both sing and play it, so it was stuck in my head. It's mostly major chords and harmonics, so (amazingly) there's nothing dark about it.

After singing and playing it for the past year. I finally decided today that I'd look deeper into the song. To my surprise, one random youtube search under "canon" got me a million vids of people playing different variations of it. Feeling like a kid in a candy store, I watched a few of them and realized that I've always been listening to the same chord progressions of the song, just in different variation. Once I started thinking about it, almost every genre of music I've listened to has some hint of licks and chord progressions from Canon. So I can, technically, easily say that it will always be a favorite song of mine.

So I guess, now that I've let out my emotions and opinions on it, I will paste a few links to versions that I really like. Why of course I will! Why wouldn't I???

My first favorite as of now: (I spent half my day trying to play this on my acoustic...with limited success of course x_X)

Of course I must stick to the original way it was written. I piano version it ish!!!

Finally, because I'm a band nerd, here's the Phantom Regiment (the corps my band director came from) playing their show Harmonic Journey from the 2003 season. The first song they play is Canon, and, though I don't know the names of all the other songs, the rest of the music (plus marching) is good and worth watching as well.

The White Stripes First Ever Concert in Mississippi!

On July 31st the renown duo from Dallas, Jack White and (ex-wife) Meg White, hit the stage of the newly built Snowden Grove Amphitheater, in Southaven, Mississippi, on their quest to play a show in every US state. Over 10,000 fans piled into the venue which made the energy of the show unmatched to any in the area.

They played a set of around 9 songs of pure wall melting energy before even pausing to address the crowd. No one was complaining though. The show was just as straightforward and simple as can be under their all red stage setup. Some defined the energy of the show as if the band was possessed by rock and roll demons. Even with a faulty mic stand and a broken string, Jack White kept relentlessly pounding the chords with unmatched ease, while Meg let the music do the talking with her drumming. The band mainly played their older songs throughout the show such as "Let's Build a Home,""Hotel Yorba,""Stop Breaking Down," and at least a dozen more. They only played about 2 songs from their latest release Icky Thump during the main performance which included the self titled "Icky Thump," and "You Don't Know What Love Is (You Just Do as You're Told)."

Among the surprises of the show, Jack ducked into the shadows and let Meg take the mic to sing "In the Cold Cold Night" which seemed to completely embarass and mortify her (even behind her drum-set). Even while shutting her eyes, gripping the mic, and barely moving the crowd went absolutely wild. After about an hour long set, they returned for a 15 minute encore showcasing another 2 songs from their recent album and a cover of Leadbelly's "De Ballet of De Boll Weevil" before leaving the stage for good. Witnesses say the crowd of Mississippians and Memphians couldn't have been happier.

Sadly enough, I personally was not able to attend this concert--even though it was right across the street from my house. I did, however, end up walking over to the arena to listen to a few songs by the band, only after realizing that they were still selling tickets at the gate. This made things worse, because two other friends of mine and myself had a collective eleven dollars between the three of us. Unable to walk back to our homes and beg for money, we just hung around and talked to people attending the show. We were even, to our complete surprise, given a free seat ticket by one of the hagglers selling them. But, alas, there were still three of us and none was going to ditch the others to get in, so we eventually gave it to some random person. Though I must say, the look on their face made the whole night worth while. Afterwards, our trio went out on a road behind the stage (still able to hear the music perfectly) and held a three person mosh pit for the whole intro of the show! Needless to say, it was still a great time!

Alexis on Fire, Saosin, and Senses Fail Concert (Feb. 3,2007)

The show took place at the Skatepark of Memphis, or SPOM, for short. One of the bands who was originally attending, Drop Dead Gorgeous, could not make the show. Sadly, when my friend (Kelsey) and myself arrived at the park we came to realize that tickets were completely sold out. Thankfully we snagged a couple from people selling them outside the entrance and made our way inside.

After wrecklessly dodging crowds and skaters alike, we finally reached the pit. Clinging to eachother for dearest life, we listened through Alexis on Fire, whom sadly we did not know very well at the time. Still they put on a great performance.

Next up was Saosin, who blew us away with their melodic riffs and Boau's (forgive me if mispelled) harmonic lyrics, showcasing songs such as Seven Years, Voices, Translating the Name, and many more. Seeing this band for the first time, I believe that they will go far and so I'll continue to be a fan.

Finally came the well-deserved headlining band Senses Fail. Ever being inovators in their emotional lyrics and punk rock attitudes, Senses Fail played with extreme consistency and flair not seen in many other bands. Between random stories, vulgar jokes, and a dedication to the pope??? they played many of their well known hits such as Rum is for drinking, Not Burning, Buried a Lie, Lady in a Blue Dress, Calling all Cars, and a few others. Once again I must say that their consistency was unmatched and therefore make them a good band in my book.

Really sorry about the vague details in this revue of the concert. It was about 4 months ago and I have alot of trouble remembering everything. I'll do my best to make them better in the future.

My Little Space

Here shall be my place to post all things that interest and relate to me (school, music, people, etc.). There aren't many other things that can be said. Let it begin as it shall.
